I was looking around on Amazon.com and I found these books:

Dave Bosanko: Fish of MN, OH, PA, NY Field Guides

"Fish of Minnesota Field Guide" was released last year, and New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania are coming out soon. Has anyone used the Minnesota book? I'm thinking about ordering the Ohio one and wonder if it would be useful. I'm a newbie to collecting my own fish, and want to get some good books for ID. I have the "National Audobon Society's Field Guide to Fishes, North America" and I'm going to get the Peterson guide. Any recommendations would be welcome!

The review says exactly what I figured; it's a book to identify gamefish.

Just popped into my head that ODNR had a free booklet that probably covers the same thing but includes some darters and more common non-game species.

I thought it might be mainly game fish, but on the cover it says, "Minnows to Muskies-Your Must Have Resource!" That's why I thought it might be useful, but if no one here thinks so, then I won't get it.

The ODNR website has some ID photos, I'll check them out. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have "Birds of Ohio", Butterflies of Ohio", and "Wildflowers of Ohio" from the same publisher ant they are excellent for beginners, I would buy this book if it is near in quality to those. Plus I noticed the book has waterproof pages. Sounds like it's worth what they're asking.

Thanks! If I do decide to get it, I'll post a review.
