Just got back from our trip to SW VA. We unfortunately had bad timing and the Clinch River was a bit washed out from rain a couple days earlier. The North Fork of the Holston River wasn't that bad but we still didn't catch much probably due to cooler and higher water. We were lucky enough to have the company of Ranger Bob (from Kingsport, TN), and he took us to some other locations where we were able to collect and do a little bit of fishing. Here are the species we found seining and dipnetting:
Copper Creek, Tributary of the Clinch River
Banded Sculpin
Smallmouth Bass
Rock Bass
TN Snubnose Darter
Greenside Darter
Gilt Darter
Banded Darter
Redline Darter
TN Shiner
Central Stoneroller
River Chub
Warpaint Shiner
Possum Creek, Tributary of the N.F. Holston River
Whitetail Shiner
Warpaint Shiner
TN Shiner
Bluntnose Minnow
Central Stoneroller
Northern Hogsucker
River Chub
Bigeye Chub
Green Sunfish
Rock Bass
Spotted Bass
Redline Darter
Greenside Darter
TN Snubnose Darter
Fantail Darter
We unfortunately didn't have a camera so we won't have pics of a lot of them. I will however post pics of some of the ones we kept once they settle in.
