This little guy got carved up last night in a flash at feeding time. I couldnt tell who did it, it happen so fast. The tank has other blue, pumpkin and some greens. Thanks Jay!!, you can see one of the greens in the photo. Well he is still alive past the 24hr mark and it is eating still. Bluegills are tough fish! Irate, care to tell us when it will kick the bucket? Hopefully it dies quickly and I dont have to euthanize. If it turns out to get ganged up on I will,or maybe just put it in the planted alone to avoid anything. Anyhow just gotta wait to see if/when infection sets in.

I caught a relatively large, one eyed bass a few years ago, and that was in the wild. If the damage seems to be isolated to just his eye he could be just fine especially considering the fact that he is in a controlled environment.

Do you guys ever have trouble with Hook Worm when you introduce these wild caught fish?
If so, how do you all treat it?

You may be suprised at how it does!
About 2 weeks ago, one of my blackchin shiners met a similar fate..no idea what did it, but during the feeding melee....it suddenly shot to the side and under some rocks, and when it came out an hour or so later...it was missing an eye!(my guess is a mud minnow...but can't say for sure!).
Anyway, after a day or two of figuring out how to "aim" during feeding time, it's right back to normal, seemingly no worse for wear. No sign of fungus or infection, so I'm figuring by this time, it's likely home free.

I have seen lots of one eyed fish. In fish hatcheries in particular. When I kept goldfish I has a problem goldfish who ate the eyes of other goldfish, all those that lost an eye managed fine.
