Hello all,
I've been keeping fish for approx. 5 years now, but only 2 years ago I got into natives. I live in Maple, which is just north of Toronto. Currently my native fish include 3 Emerald Shiners ( ), but in previous years I owned a Pumpkinseed Sunfish. I've set up a tank for natives; a 15-Gallon Long for darters and our nice Northern cyprinids (Northern redbelly dace, Rosyface Shiner, blacknose and longnose dace, etc..)
I also have a 65 Gallon reef Tank, with a particularly good selection of Gorgonians (responsibly collected in FL) and mostly Atlantic reef fish and inverts. I also keep native snake species (I do posses a Collector's Permit).
I plan to do some collecting as soon as the rivers are safe to go near (I speak from experience ) because the shores are iced up fairly nicely and there is snow covering the said ice. I usually collect in the Humber River or Grand River watersheds.
Nice to meet you all and I hope to have some interesting conversations on this forum
