I won't have much time to poke around in the creeks..but I may have a little!
Anything unique that is NOT in any way threatened, that I should look out for(I know that's an open ended question...but I am simply not familiar with the stream fish fauna there).
I will be in western Ark. near the Oklahoma boarder.(Mena area, to be specific).
I am specifically interested in maybe a few more colorful shiners, small sunfish(any bluespots or banded?), or interesting darters..but they have to be tough enough to last some time in a bucket!(will have battery aeration).

I'm not familiar with that area, but you're out of luck on the Enneacanthus; they don't get so far west.

I'd look out for orangebelly darters (Etheostoma radiosum) and possibly redspot darters (Etheostoma artesiae). I know the orangebellies are common in suitable streams in southeastern Oklahoma, so they should be around Mena also.

Thanks guys. It turns out there area several small, but year round streams on the property, one of which has and I quote "a whole bunch of really pretty little minnows and perchy looking things".
I take that as a number of shiner and darter species! I'll have to get a better idea when I get down there, and see what can legally be taken.(if anything).

It means "a lot of shiners of the same species, and crappie".

Hope for the best!
