This winter has been long, full of snow and cold. I'm happy to have had a week where the air temp went above freezing and gave me a chance to get in the water. Today was sunny and a high of 40 degrees so I hit some small creeks
My first stop I'd been to the previous year so I was not especially surprised at finding the below fishes.

Campostoma anomalum
Lythrurus umbratilis
Nocomis biguttatus
Pimephales notatus
Phoxinus erythrogaster
Semotilus atromaculatus
Ambloplites rupestris
Lepomis cyanellus
Etheostoma nigrum

The Central stonerollers were fat (presumably gravid) and the males were becoming tuberculate. The SRBD were not yet showing good color so photos will have to wait.

My next stop was also a headwater stream and I was tickled to see the following fishes:

Campostoma anomalum
Lythrurus umbratilis
Luxilus chrysocephalus
Nocomis biguttatus
Pimephales notatus
Semotilus atromaculatus
Fundulus notatus
Ambloplites rupestris
Lepomis cyanellus
Lepomis megalotis
Etheostoma spectabile
Etheostoma flabellare

The Bluntnose minnows were HUGE and I was happy to see so many fantails since I don't come across them all that often close to home. The orangethroat darters were not in good color so I will again have to wait a bit for good photos. I was a little surprised at finding orangethroats since I've never seen them in nearby streams I've sampled. I decided to look up historic records and it seems they have not been recorded this far east in the drainage.

Not a terribly impressive list of fishes but I'm so happy to be back in the water.

Sounds like a great time. Winter is still holding on up here in Minnesota. I took my girlfriend out ice fishing on Sunday. Still able to drive the car right to where I want to fish. Another 4 inches of ice and my auger wouldn't have made it through.
Your list was a lot more impressive than mine or rather my girlfriend's. Only one species there. My girlfriend caught her first, second, and third bluegill ever through the ice, =D> and I.... I caught some fathead minnows out of the bait bucket. [-(
