Asian and pea clams

I didn't know whether to put this in the invert section or invasive/exotics section.

First question: Will pea clams survive in and aquarium? I just got a bunch of live gravel/sand out of my creek and put it in my 55 gallon, and now I have atleast 200 asian clams, and several pea clams.

Second question: Do they breed in captivity? I don't really want any more of the Asians, but I don't mind the pea clams so much. I don't want to have so many that they all start to die off and cause and ammonia/nitrate/nitrite spike. If they will breed, is there a way to control it? From what I read, they release thousands of babies each day into the water column during their breeding season.

I've never had any luck with sphaeriids. They seem to be quite sensitive and usually kick the bucket soon after being introduced to the tank. Plus, nearly anything with a wide enough mouth will eat them.
