Hello all,
This past Thursday Ron E. and I went out to do some collecting for a project I am working on. I am presently setting up and stocking 2) 55 gallon native fish tanks in separate Elementary schools. Anyway we went to a couple of small creeks called Goose Creek and Lamb's Creek located in central Indiana. The water was still pretty cool and so we didn't stay in long, but did find some fish. All of the rainbow darters were colored up and the females were bulging. I am hoping to get back into these creeks later this spring and get some underwater pictures of the darters and minnows.
The fish found were:
Creek Chub
Rainbow Darter
Johnny Darter
Greenside Darter
Central Stoneroller
Silverjaw Minnows
A single SRBD(may still be early for them)
Mottled Sculpin
Bluntnose minnow
We also came up with a salamander that Ron called 2-lined Salamander. My knowledge of the amphibians of Indiana is severely limited.
