Hi, LONG time lurker, first post :) .

This is actually very good info to know. Now I just have to speak with the Alberta equivilant. Does anyone have any info in that regard? Last I spoke with them was in 2002 and the conversation was not exactly encouraging ;) .

Chris

The same rules apply here in AB.

A person could purchase them from a licensed aquaculture operation or commercial fisher, or could collect them from the wild if they had the appropriate licence to collect fish. An angling licence does not allow them to collect and transport live fish from Ontario waters.

Without the proper permits, no one can legally collect, transport, or keep native species.

What if they were legal baitfish purchased from a licensed baitfish dealer?

Some people seem to have missed thekey line - a person can not transport live fish, other than baitfish, without a licence. Clearly they are assuming you want to keep bass or other game fish. The law cited in their last reply definitely allows any baitfish to be taken, transported and kept with a fishing license.

You cannot transport live "sportfish" only baitfish. Look up the Ontario Baitfish Primer.
