I've set up a bucket with some banana peels, fish food, etc. in a tied
nylon stocking in hopes of it culturing either daphnia or mozzies.
Well, needless to say it was a bit much for daphnia but the mozzies
have come to like it and I am removing 5-10 egg rafts per day. Far
more than I need ATM...I really wish I had a large scale fry project
going..they'd love these! heated to 75 they hatch in about 20 hours
after collection.

Is their any way to store excess egg rafts for later? Would
refridgerating them be appropriate? My only worry is the "ripe" water
they come from is not something I'd any anywhere near my fridge, even
in small amounts in mosquito egg rafts.

Also, some tips.
-the starting organic material should be kept in a nylon stocking to
prevent it from getting in the way of harvesting.
-mosquitoes really like the smell of bad water after some chunk lite
tuna juice is added
-if you boil dumplings/soup let the water cool and add it to the bucket
-use light colored buckets only so you can find all the rafts.
-if you slack off for a few days and the bucket fills with larvae,
their is no need to throw it out. Harvest out what you can, then boil
your dumplings or soup and pour the strained scalding water into the
bucket after emptying about half of it. IME this kills all the larvae
that would otherwise see you as the live food! You don't want to be
breeding these things.
