Hello
How do you guys take CLEAR pics of fish in lakes, ponds? I have taken many pics 95% didnt post as worthless shadows or fish look like dots, softhsell turtles look like blotches.

I use my cell phone as its just easier to carry in my top picket if I go in the water knee deep. I took some great shots of common peacock bass breeding but spectacular male all to end up with large shadows slight red marks.

I photograph about 10 to 15 feet range as thats closest I can get before fish take off .

Thanks

First, I very much doubt you'll ever get a decent photo on your cell phone.
For what you're attempting, a telephoto lens or optical zoom around 200 mm should get you close enough.
To beat the glare, a polarized lens filter is a must have.
Try early morning on a sunny day. Sun hits water at low angle, water usually calm in AM. Shoot with sun over your shoulder. Get down low to the water for better angle on side of fish.
Obviously clear water works best.
