Hey there! I was referred here from MFT by one of out members, and I was hoping you could help me out .
I have heard you could .
I have a 10G, open top, emergent planted native tank. I have no idea what to stock it with! I am afraid big minnows would jump out, crayfish will eat my plants, salamanders will climb out, frogs could jump out. Any ideas of something that would be god in about 3 gallons of water and won't escape my open top? I will post pictures of the tank tonight. Thanks for any ideas!
(Oh ans PS- I am from Canada, so they have to be native to Canada too )
What to stock with?

Welcome to the forum! Posting your location in your profile will help folks zero in on a good fit for your set-up. Also, there is a "Fishes of Canada" forum after the list of fish forums and also a few Canadian users who may want ot organize a collecting trip.

Welcome to NANFA!
Ooh, that's a tough one. Maybe a stickleback? There may be some small slackwater darters that would work too; I'm afraid I don't know the Canadian fauna well enough for any better suggestions. Three gallons is just not much, and unfortunately for you most of the tiny palustrine North American fish are southeastern US species.
I believe some of the ghost shrimps (Palaemonetes species) may just enter Canada; can anyone confirm this?
