pacific tarpon

anyone ever tried keeping one. I've heard they can be keptin fresh water as well as salt or brachish water.this would be a sic fish to keep

They are rather interesting and I was fond of mine before dropping it in alcohol.. Oh yeah they are impossible to keep beyond juvenile so it is best to leave them alone.. want an interesting "close to" try the Skipjack herring Alosa chrysochloris also a pain to keep but it is at least feasible..

Oh does one drop a fish into alcohol?

Why difficult? Because of size?

Personally I had kept a small group in pure freshwater [but never acidic] till they were more or less one foot long before giving them away. They need swimming space and love [to eat] small fishes, but otherwise easy to keep and wean to floating pellets.

I've seen roughly 2 feet long Pacific tarpons cruising happily at rather fast speed in a huge marine tank, so a huge tank is a must for long term keeping of this fish.
