Dragonfly nymph collected from culture pond in central Missouri. Anyone know the species. Coloration is very distinctive, may be able to get to specific genus. Also very active with the butt propulsion systemAttached File  Unknown_Dragonfly_Nymph.jpg   266.47KB   1 downloads.

I haven't seen one colored like that before. Almost certainly a libellulid. Can you get a shot of the mouthparts, either from the front or (preferably) with them extended? You can sometimes tease them out with a probe.

Best I can do at this time. Lacking in probes sized for this application. Will try to advance instars before extending mouthparts. I suspect this is one of the minnie-dragonflie species as wingpads starting to develop.
