I would expect it the next couple days. The folks in MO got theirs two days before I did. It's probably got something to do with distance from Chicago.

WOW that is a book! I'm affraid my bookshelf at work might break with this added weight. Thank God they went with normal dimensions for something this big. Heck for $50.00 it might appreciate more than some investments. I must say that in early April I had the pleasure of finally meeting Art and you could see the relief in his eyes that the book was finally coming to fruition.

Jeff Garner is much relieved it's finally out, too.

Is it set up like the AL freshwater fishes book, with all of the Mobile drainage species included?

Yes, all ~180 species in the state are included which includes both Tennessee and Mobile drainages.

But does it cover the portions of the Mobile drainage in MS, GA, and TN?

Yepper. The maps are like Mettee et al. and include the Tombigbee in MS.

I do wish there was a small inset of the overall range map, like Parmalee and Bogan. Todd, does your book smells oddly like a museum (i.e. formalin)? Did the first flip through last night and getting a little more in depth over the long weekend if the weather continues to look subpar.

Yeah that was my single criticism. You might end up with a better map tho snagging something from natureserve and taping it in. There's usually somewhere you could do that, and was something I considered. In all my free time, of course :)

Nah I just smelled "new book". Nothing that strong.

Unfortunately natureserve doesn't do that map for mussels like they do with fish. I wish it would have followed the TN drainage a little more directly north of the state, like the Paint Rock and Flint, which for the most part are in AL. It's interesting that they follow the Coosa and Tombigbee, but not a small, important slice of the TN and the mainstem Chattahoochee tribs east of the border.

Wow. Was I really just reading those watershed lists and imagining the maps? I really need to go outside more often. :)
