Illinois is under the VHS ban. Once lifted I'll be able to send some spectabile your way. .
I am kind of new here. What is a VHS ban? What do you mean by spectsbile?

VHS or Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia.

When I say spectabile, I'm referring to the orangethroat darters. SRBD (southern redbelly dace) aren't always easy to come by so iffy on them in any case.

They aren't on the list, or is there a new list?
I'm sure you're right Drewish. I'm forgetting that a list exists and simply presumed all fishes are susceptible. I'll be in that creek before to long blaze. I'll let you know when I get them in.

This ban is worthless!
Worse that worthless, it seems to have put you out of business on AquaBid. Others, too.

I am okay with losing the sales, IF they were doing more to prevent the spread. For gods sakes, black crappie are listed, and not white crappie! Why, because fish farms raise black crappie for pond stocking, not white. White crappie tend to overpopulate. Why spend the dough testing to prove that white crappie are susceptible, if few people sell them. They are concentrating on economically important fish, when it only takes a single non important fish to spread this disease. If they really want to stop the spread, it should be a blanket ban! No fish leave the state! Even then they will still lose this battle!
I am a conservationist first and foremost, The last thing I want to see is a disease like this spread throughout our waterways. I agree something needs to be done, but don't half ass it!
Sadly all this ban is accomplishing is to put small aquaculture facilities out of business.
