Does anybody know where I can get some Orange Throats. I would be happy to send a check and have you ship them to me overnight. Thanks. If you also know where I could find Red bellied daces too.

Illinois is under the VHS ban. Once lifted I'll be able to send some spectabile your way. I don't think you'd need them sent overnight especially in the winter. Priority should be fine.

I am kind of new here. What is a VHS ban? What do you mean by spectsbile?

Sorry blaze,

VHS or Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia.

When I say spectabile, I'm referring to the orangethroat darters. SRBD (southern redbelly dace) aren't always easy to come by so iffy on them in any case.

They aren't on the list, or is there a new list?

I'm sure you're right Drewish. I'm forgetting that a list exists and simply presumed all fishes are susceptible. I'll be in that creek before to long blaze. I'll let you know when I get them in.

I am sure they are susceptible, the money just has not yet been spent to prove it, as they are not economically important. This ban is worthless! It will spread with or without the ban. Right past your town Teleost, down the Illinois, mississippi, and straight to the gulf. Matt

Worse that worthless, it seems to have put you out of business on AquaBid. Others, too.

I am okay with losing the sales, IF they were doing more to prevent the spread. For gods sakes, black crappie are listed, and not white crappie! Why, because fish farms raise black crappie for pond stocking, not white. White crappie tend to overpopulate. Why spend the dough testing to prove that white crappie are susceptible, if few people sell them. They are concentrating on economically important fish, when it only takes a single non important fish to spread this disease. If they really want to stop the spread, it should be a blanket ban! No fish leave the state! Even then they will still lose this battle!
I am a conservationist first and foremost, The last thing I want to see is a disease like this spread throughout our waterways. I agree something needs to be done, but don't half ass it!

Sadly all this ban is accomplishing is to put small aquaculture facilities out of business.

All I can say is write your senators and congressmen, if it is on a naitonal level. If it is on a state level write the govener and mayor.

Blaze, Southern Redbellies are very common in my home town. Next week I will be going home for thanksgiving break. If I am able to go collecting and get some I will let you know.

Thank you so much. I really do wan't both fish, but the thing is my tank is only so big. Anyway if you get some please let me know. I would prefer southern since the northern are less colorful and endangered.
