When a scientific discussion of a fish mentions "whole body" feeding behavior, what does that refer to? A literal reading of it would indicate that the fish doesn't tear or masticate the food?

e.g., "First and second level trophic classifications listed as invertivore/carnivore and benthic/whole body, respectively;" -- in this passage, benthic and whole body would seem to be differing class designations. But "benthic" refers to feeding from the bottom, as I understand it, but if "whole body" refers to what I'm thinking it refers to, it would seem a fish could be both a benthic and whole body feeder.
