What have you found in your driftwood

I can't get a picture it's too small and keeps hiding, but I can give a description,
the most I've seen of them (yes multiple three I think) is about 1/4th -1/2 an inch and their size all the way around is about that of a ballpoint pen and they're white, they have their own spots on the driftwood, they stick out and sometimes move around but I have never seen them completely out of their holes.
If you look really closely you can see that they have black eyes, I guess that's it.
The little things aren't really posing a problem right now, it's a fish-less tank at the moment.

I did get this from my creek, one thing though, it wasn't submerged when I collected it but it was at one point not too long ago noticeably.

Amphipods perhaps? If that's what they are, they are actually rather beneficial in your tank.

I googled them and it looks similar,
they're probably an amphipod of some kind.
