When you catch a fish legally, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) does not care whether you release it immediately, eat it, or keep it in an aquarium. There are no special regulations pertaining to aquaria. According to the following Q&A on the PFBC web site, "If the fish are legally caught, meaning in compliance with season, size, and creel limits and licensing requirements, they may be kept in an aquarium."

Has there been any change in this situation in the last 10 years?
My initial research indicates that it has not but I thought I would ask before I unknowingly violate the law.
Does anyone know if there is any way to get permission to collect fish that do meet the legal fishing requirements? IE: the minimum size for Largemouth Bass is 12 or 15 inches depending on the location they are collected from. It seems unlikely that a LMB old enough to achieve 12 inches would do well in an aquarium. Is there any legal way to collect one at the fry stage or at a few inches?
