I have been feeding both these species on freeze dried earthworms from Avid Aquatics. As you know, both can be difficult to get onto prepared foods.

How did you ween them onto it? My roommate has a tank with a rock bass and a black crappie in it and he would probably appreciate the info.

Turned out that feeding them after the lights were out was key. After that they began feeding at other times. Letting them get quite hungry was also part of it I am sure. No real training was involved, although there were other fish in the tank that were already readily taking the prepared foods.
