My name is Bill Ballard and I used to be a NANFA member.I enjoyed it and met many good people, but then a rift developed inside of NANFA and that turned me off.I remember an issue of the darter where the"darter"was floating belly up at the top of the page!Funny in a way,but everything had turned into infighting. For that reason I dropped out.I still collect and keep native fishes along with a few friends, most of whom are also former NANFA members.I do miss American Currents and the chance to meet other fish nuts.If you(anyone) can demonstrate that this internal disagreement is now in the past I'll gladly rejoin NANFA.Since I dropped out I've been busy raising a child and then going thru a divorce.I hope to hear back about this. Here is what you are missing:

Bill, the short answer to your question is that the craziness of 1998/1999 is long gone. Most current NANFA members don't even know what happened. Several key people are long gone, or have reconciled with the original majority. The organization is financially solvent, holds regular annual conventions, produces an information-rich and aesthetically pleasing quarterly journal, funds education and conservation grants programs, and allows like-minded people to meet and go chase fishes together. The Darter doesn't even come out now.... instead we have this Forum which is a huge improvement no matter how you cut it. So hang around and check it out. We both hope and believe you'll like it.
