Do you have a "skin building" tool? I'd like to take a stab at one.

I do have a GDK, but as far as I know it is against licensing to distribute so I wouldn't be able to send it to you.

Another problem I have been having is that I show new posts, read one, attempt to read another by showing new posts again, and get an error message about "search flood control". This one actually is documented. But I do not see its purpose, other than to be a frequent brief inconvenience, and I would request that you consider disabling it. Thanks.

I've lowered the amount of time for the flood control. It is more of a concern on a larger board but since we 1) don't have that many users 2) don't have that many posts, we can get away with lowering it.

Thought I would put my 3 cents in. After Teleosts little tutorial and some playing around, I like the new format better. I especially like the colors of the new skin. #-o

I am with edbihary on this software business. This forum seems to take an engineering degree to manuver around in. When I edit in the middle of a post it does not show up sometimes. When I edit at the end of a post " IE add on to it " it seems to work fine. Seems kind of complicated to me. But what can I say I am simple minded any-way. I like things the old fasioned way. Like when you go to bed you ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
end of story.

I appreciate the comments but we won't be going back to the old version. We understood when we did this that some people may not like it but we also remembered that you can't please all the people all the time.
If you need assistance with a function of the board, feel free to ask an admin and we will do our best to help.

There will be some more changes coming soon as there is an upgrade to this software. I am evaluating it and making sure we have a seemless transition.

Drew, I want to say thanks for all the hard work you're putting into this. It may seem (with all the comments) that people may not be appreciating it, but I'm sure they are. Most of us (probably) haven't a smidgen of knowledge about putting a forum together, so we don't know what can and can't be done as far as design/operation. Hence all the questions and comments. But you should know that you've put one awsome forum together!

Daniel,

This software has more options making the beginning a little more complicated than the previous software. This software however will allow the future of this type of communication to grow whereas the old software would certainly have prevented more advanced communication certain to become available in the future. We view this forum and it's content to be a warehouse for information that native fish enthusiasts will be able to search and use for many years to come. The old software had serious limitations for growth.

As far as the "full edit" vs "quick edit" issue. A "full edit" will allow you to edit your post will all the features your original post had. Once done with your edit you simply scroll down and click "submit modified post" button. Your change will now be logged. When you perform a "quick edit" you'll notice the edit screen pops up more quickly and most of the features you had when you originally posted are now gone (links, quotes, bold and italic text). This feature is designed to make quick corrections to typographical errors. Once completed with the edit you must click the little green "complete edit" box in lower right corner of the edit window for your edit to take effect.

I hope this clears up any misunderstanding about the edit feature. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

I would just like to say that since I have started getting used-to this new software...I think I like it more! I don't remember the "View New Posts" being available in the old software and I'm really getting to like it. I haven't tried all of the new features but if things keep going the way they are, I don't see why I won't like them too. I apologise to anybody that I may have offended with my previous comments. Also, I would like to thank to those who have put this together! And thanks especially for moving us into the new software knowing that there would be those of us who would balk at the idea initially!
