Neat! It'll be great if California can start distributing some of its natives rather than the Dread Gambusia for skeeter control. And maybe it will inspire others to do the same. Are you involved with that project?

I hope someone else here can provide you with some info. Unfortunately we seem to have few members experienced with western natives in captivity.

I kept lots of those as a kid growing up in California, when I was too young to know it was illegal. They are cool fish though, and kinda look like a cross between a golden shiner and a phoxinus. Actually, they are most likely the first native species I ever kept, starting around 10 years old.
