Nice pics of some fish I don't see very often.
I particularly liked the second pic, of the spotted gar. How did you get that lighting effect? It looks like sunlight in a natural lake but I take it it was actually in a tank, correct?

This is just an educated guess and by all means correct me if Im wrong but it looks like he may have fired a remote flash directly over the tank. I myself have been playing with this and it seems to work wonders.

thanks for the comments everyone

to respond to the comments on the lighting effects, airbrn is correct, i used a remote overhead flash to illuminate the fish from above, therefore giving a more complete lighting effect. it definitely provides more flexibility with the camera and shooting, but is still challenging with larger fishes that may not be fully illuminated by the flash. i've been experimenting with it over the past year or two, but really need to shoot more (time is always the issue)!

hope to add more pics soon...for now, here is a pic of me and a catch from a recent research trip down in Louisiana...
