I for about a year or maybe even two have enjoyed viewing this website and seeing what everyone from around the country has and just being amazed at the beautiful native species we have in the country. I am starting a new aquarium right now for spring collecting and am wondering what species we have in SE Virginia or a day trip away that I could find. I know about bass, yellow and white perch, blue gills, green sunfish, pumpkinseed, shell cracker, black crappie, bullheads, warmouth, and the sporty fish, but what am I forgetting. I appreciate your reading this lengthy post.

Enneacanthus gloriosus, bluespotted sunfish
Enneacanthus obesus, banded sunfish
Aphredoderus sayanus, pirate perch
Umbra pygmaea, eastern mudminnow
Chologaster cornuta, swampfish
Fundulus lineolatus, lined topminnow
Esox americanus americanus, redfin pickerel
Others would kill for some of these fish. There are some Cyprinidae spp.as well, but not sure off the top of my head.

Yeah, all of those. The ironcolor isn't listed in VA. Blacknose dace are also common. Mountain Redbelly Dace aren't too far away either. And where the MRBD are you will find rosyside dace, creek or river chubs, creek chubsuckers, northern hog suckers, and torrent suckers. And if you are that far, the darters aren't much farther.
