4 tanks like conditions as follows
photoperiod 15-18 hours a day
heating closed bathroom sized room @ 77-80 deg
no water changes, just top it off with bottle water after setup.
key=
P= parent stock.
T= tank.
SF= San Francisco bay strain.
AN=Artemia X NYOS (aka sea monkeys strain)
AS=Artemia X NYOS X San Francisco bay strain.
F=Hybrid offspring

food
T_ 1-food hikari first bites
T_ 2-yeast
T_ 3-food hikari first bites
T_ 4-yeast

size of tank
T_ 1-SF- brood above 5000 3 gallon air/no filter
T_ 2-SF- brood in the 1000's 3 gallon air/no filter
T_ 3-AN- brood in the high 100's 1 gallon no air/no filter
T_ 4-AS- brood in the low 100's 1 gallon no air/no filter

weeks 0-2
T_ 1-SF-system crashed @ 6 days post hatch
T_ 2-SF-kitten spilled tank @ 4 days post hatch saved a few 100
T_ 3-AN-all good,light gray and growing
T_ 4-AS-all good,light pink and growing

weeks 3-4
picked up a got a instant ocean hydrometer. T-1 was way off too low
T_ 1-SF-0 alive
T_ 2-SF- 20 alive in week 4 due to kitten/myself, i let it in the room.
T_ 3-AN-no change in color still gray, f1 growing.
T_ 4-AS-color is now red from pink,f1 growing

week 5-8
T_ 1-SF-0 alive
T_ 2-SF-many breeding,playing follow the leader. very small -.375"
T_ 3-AN-P die off @ 47 days, f3 and above ok. adult size below avg .675"
T_ 4-AS-P die off @ 51 days, f3 and above odd red hue.size .375-.625

what I've learned so far.
less air and large bubble is better.small bubbles floats them and they die.
higher salt is better=more offspring.
keep my cats out of breeding room!!!
small amount of food more often is better then one large amount.
never filter the water/kills all from post hatch to adult.
did i say keep the cats out?
notes:
next go around i would like to keep records of same type.
on same food for offspring yield and survival rates

I think I've worked out a filter system that may let these guys survive in a filtered tank. I took a hang-on-back filter and set its intake down inside a drinking glass and directed its outflow into a sponge box (http://www.aquariuma...box-111212.html) which serves to cut the turbulent flow down into a slow diffusion of water outward from all surfaces of the sponge. By adjusting the water level you can end up with the glass acting as the world's smallest sump so the inflow is drawn from the very surface of the water and spills over to a slightly lower level inside the glass. This is a plan for continuous breeding, since the sump system may skim off some eggs.

week 9-11
T_ 1-SF-0 alive
T_ 2-SF- lot 2 crashed 0-alive
T_ 3-AN-lost 1/2 of live swimming BS,yellow balls on bottom of tank
------still gray,odd muck on tank walls a clear slime.
T_ 4-AS-lost3/4 of live BS,very red today.

i think air born aqua-net hair spray has been introduced
to culture tanks maybe scuds or some other culture
that can stand colder temps is a better choice.
