Question: How do I kill all of the snails and in my 47 tanks without taking them all down and destroying all of my plants and moss??!! I am not opposed to chemicals at this point. Any suggestions?

If the snails aren't too large, toss in a few darters. They're expert snail hunters.

Mummichogs also destroy them, and the males are remarkably beautiful fish. I wish I could keep snails alive in that tank :( I stock them hundreds at a time and they last just a few days. I even set up another tank for the purpose of breeding snails, but it's not keeping up with the rate I want feeders (it's a 5 gal trying to supply a 75).

Another alternative is to learn to like the little guys. I think they're pretty neat to watch.

If you aren't worried about other inverts, I've heard that dropping a penny in the tank works after some time.

Otherwise, you can remove a good number of them by anchoring some lettuce on the bottom, waiting for the snails to come along, then remove and repeat. Not a cure; more like a management strategy.

I don't mind them persay, they just eat my fish eggs off my mops. I pick the pig ones out, crush the small ones...repeat. takes more time than the water changes. I there was someone near me that wanted snails I at least could appreciate them as something more than a nuisance (or have them get them out!). The thought of completely breaking down 40+ tanks makes me want to ](*,)

Make sure you don't use your finger to crush them because if you get cut by them you will get the worst infection of your life. The infection is not one of those little one's that can be treated at home.
