Is it possible to search for any posts 7 days old and newer? I tried to do this from the search page and got the error, "search keywords must be 3 or more characters...". What if I don't want to use keywords?

I just tried that, i entered a section to search, the time period, and my own name for searching, But No Keyword, for a 7 day and newer time period and it worked. but without a certain ammount of specific info it seems to NOT work.

May have possibly found a work-around. I found that if I search for posts with the word "fish" that are 7 days old and newer, I get a good representation of posts. I suppose "*fish*" would probably work even better. I'll have to give that a try.

Yep, "*fish*" works better. Strange, though, as it picked-up threads that "fish" should have. Hmmmm. :-k

I would think "the" would pick up almost everything.

I tried searching with "the" as the keyword, and it didn't work! I got a "your search on that keyword produced no results" error.

"the" isn't really what you wanted to search is it?
When the forum was new or young rather, things were simple. Very little subject matter to sort. As the forum advanced so does our need to use the "advanced search" function. The search function is not as good as google but it can dig up the information you want with a little effort using the advanced search. http://forum.nanfa.o...&...E=01&HID=10 & Please also see the "advanced usage help" link when in the advanced search help. The advanced usage help tips are very important to use when searching.

If I'm right about how the back-end of this here forum works, the search is done by a MySQL database full-text search. The default setting is to have a threshold of 4 letters in relevant words (Kinda like significant digits, only with letters). So 'the' won't work, but 'fish' will. And '*fish*' will find sunfish and fishfood, where plain 'fish' won't.

So Brian's error message ("search keywords must be 3 or more characters...") is a bit misleading.

I tried different stuff to bring up all posts in the last 7 days and couldn't do it. Some things work better than others but still...

Have you tried Google Advanced Search? Here's the query:

http://www.google.co...amp;safe=images

It's simpler than it looks, what you are doing is selecting "site:forum.nanfa.org", then using the "Date: (how recent the page is)" drop menu to select "past week". The Date selection is limited, you can pick "anytime", "last 24 hours", "past week", "past month", and "past year". No keyword is needed. I didn't take the time to make sure the results were correct.
