I managed to sneak out for a bit today and sampled a single, small stream in a neighboring county. At the second location, I found a few nice fish but failed to bring my tripod so I snapped a few photos freehand and went home.
I painted my background a bit darker but it seems there is a little blue in the paint. I'm not sure I like the blue. This new color forced me to try a different editing technique which turned out OK I think. Anyhow, here are a few fish from today.

You suck!!! ... Man now Im envious...That Dace is cool....By the way so far I like that background the best. Seems to bring out the best details in all of them.

Hey Mark, we've driven over that stream a few times but never stopped. I need to go back and hope you'll come as I'll need help since I failed to find the target. The Rhinichthys were pretty darn big and just starting to color up, so we still have time.
I like the contrast of that background but don't you see the blue? I'm a bit colorblind with some shades so it might just be my "eyes".

Yes I do see the blue but you have to remeber the more you lean towards grays and blacks the more colors you get...because in pigment black is all color where as light is absence of color.

Very nice photos indeed. That blacknose dace is beautiful. They look a good bit different than what I trypically catch in Knoxville, in terms of rostrum and area of orange coloration.

Honestly, I like your new background color. I like that it is a tad darker than the light gray, and the blue tinge to it isn't overwhelming. In fact, I think it helps when looking at fin rays and pigmentation.

Great pics!
