Hey

I was just wondering how everyone gets your native fish? Do you use a seine, cast net, rod and reel? I don't have a tank yet but i'm thinking about starting one. I do have a couple small sunfish in a small outside pond with some goldfish. I caught them in a cast net.

i personally use a dipnet and a seine. The dipnet seems to work the best for me when I am catching darters, which are my primary focus when catching natives. I usually put the dipnet downstream and kick up rocks walking towards the net. It works pretty good. The seine works well for catching shiners and daces.

Depends on where you sample, what you sample for, and what is legal.

Dipnet and a rod and reel with the smallest hook possible and yes only if it is legal.

Welcome to the forum, stumpy041486! I'm a "seiner" and "dip-netter".

chase them down with a large aquarium net, or cast net where legal
