I was wondering if anyone can steer me towards some literature that explains the relationship between walleye and zander. Convergent evolution or what? How old are walleye and zander believed to be? It's incredible to me how similar they are but I do understand euro yellow perch are very similar to ours. How did that happen?

No literature but it seems obvious to me both being circumpolar species at similar lattitudes they were probably the same at some point and then were separated by a change in geography and made some subtle evolutionary changes.
It's interesting to me that the Zander, European perch, and the Northern pike of Europe all get much larger in size than their North American counterparts.
