I am just curious, has anyone had any interviews or received a job from the postings on this forum? If you have applied for any jobs, got an interview or received a job let us know. This is just for curiosity sake, as I/we get more jobs we will continue to post them. Hope these postings are helping.

I'd certainly like to know too. Derek, you've been pretty interested in some of the postings correct?

Well one of the postings I saw on this forum originally got me interested in getting a head start looking for jobs. It was a position with VADGIF helping manage American shad collection efforts. I figured it was a state job and they weren't absolutely requiring a Bachelors (which at this point I am one semester from completing) so I went ahead and applied. No luck. But I have certainly kept my eyes open on this forum. This spring I have been applying for jobs/internships left and right, trying to find something to do this summer to get some relevant experience. Most of these I either ran across on the American Fisheries Society job board, or they were forwarded to me by professors. I think a few that were posted here were of interest, but not feasible for my situation (I need to make enough money to help my girlfriend make rent payments if I'm going elsewhere, so I needed either a) good pay, or b) alright pay and housing provided.) I've applied probably for probably about 10 positions trying to make something happen this summer, but it looks like I'm probably going to be stuck in retail hell again.

I GREATLY appreciate all the posts though, guys. And if you have any advice for me, don't be shy :)

I've applied to a few jobs I found listed here, but got nowhere with any of them.
By the time the listings appear here, it's usually too late for the reader to have any hope of success. I've been discovering lately that far too many employers tend to make their hiring decisions well before the closing date. It's very annoying. Some of them have been quite rude, too.
However, by all means keep them coming.

Contact your state agency or a non profit conservation group directly. Many have volunteer programs already in place and gladly take the free help. Most of what we are posting are specific employment oppurtunities. There isn't enough time for those of us who volunteer here to put up every states individual program and their constant updates.

It's great to be able to hunt for opportunities here! I have applied for several positions, received excellent responses, and thank all of you for taking the time to post your openings.

This part of the forum is of particular interest to a lot of undergraduates at Bowling Green State University. I've directed students that ask me about working with fish to this website. I haven't heard that any of them have followed up on it yet though.

Time to recycle this thread. Has any one in the last year, since this was originally posted, found a job or hired some one directly as a result from the posting on the NANFA Forum?

Well actually I got a great follow up from amy at the Raccoon Creek project in vinton county ohio...I worked on that project for two summers and saw that you had posted a position for an aquatic specialist. Unfortunately I saw it two days after the deadline was over for application, I am hoping to return to ohio and work in the fisheries field again!

I've definitely been looking at these jobs, occasionally emailing people about them. I have not personally applied, but that's more because of my lack of transportation than anything else - some of these are really awesome.

So PLEASE! Keep posting these sorts of things? I find it immensely helpful, if nothing more but than to learn what organizations there are out there dealing with these topics.
