On a herp site I frequent one of the members posted a fish ID and it turned out to be a weather loach. Suppposively quite a few were found at this location.

Are these fish currently known from Illinois?

According to state records, Misgurnus anguillicaudatus were first noted in Chicago in 1990. They have spread via the various waterways that have been reversed in flow and are now found as far as Will county. I wonder how many years it will take them to get to St Louis? Anyhow...I know herp folks are very stingy with sampling sites (for many good reasons) but I would like to photo them from local populations for my Illinois project. If you know Ignoffo well, please let him/her know that I will not divulge this location to anyone and would very much appreciate this spot.

They have been found in the Grand Calumet and the Indiana Harbor Canal. This shows their hardiness, considering now polluted these waterways are.
