Hey guys, this summer I may have a little collecting trip down here on the Tangipahoa River in Tangipahoa parish in the city of Kentwood. My family owns about 220 acres in Kentwood which includes a mile of river frontage on the Tangi. Instead of collecting in a bunch of differant creeks I was thinking of working the Tangi really well as it yeilds some of the most interesting variety of fishes in Louisiana.
If you think you can come these are the fish that we commonly see a lot of.

speckled darter
striped shiner
longnose shiner
northern hogsucker- there are LOADS of these in this river
naked sand darter
mosquitofish
dusky darter
blackspotted topminnow
broadstriped topminnow
blacktail shiner
brook silverside
grass pickeral
hybrid sunfish
largemouth bass
spotted bass
longear sunfish
gulf darter
shadow bass
warmouth
johnny darter

The Tangi is the only place in the world that broadstriped topminnows are found.
If you took a blackspotted topminnow and took away his spots and made his stripe wider with a more purplish tint you would have a blackspotted topminnow.

If there is anybody who wants to go I will set up a date that will be convenient for you/yall.
