for this trip i would like to find some plant life and food for my darters and stonecats.also maybe a pair of fish or two.
for the plant life im looking for Ceratophyllum but I'm just not sure what Species we have in my area.this plant is very plentiful
in the swamps along the river here.
Corydalidae- Hellgrammites larvae. from the creek to river convergence of the LMR.
Lymnaeidae pond snails. From a local farm pond in the area.
i hope to find some fry we have had allot of rain and the river is up so maybe they will be close to the sand bars.
some of the hornwort will go into small tanks for fry to hide in.one of my smaller 10g. tanks i added this plant to
last week and i now have fry in this tank plus this tank was moved so it gets more light.
so im not sure if it was heat, light or plant life that changed because this fish was gravid for months
then just dropped over night.when i was out of town i now have 25 fry left from maybe 30 or so.

water was to fast for me in the main stream as i was alone.so i found no Hellgrammites larvae.
i found some N studfish, F catenatus today in flooded slack water off of the main river.maybe 60-70 total fish each group had 20 or more
and this fish is very hard to dip net there so fast.after a bout a mile of trying i gave up on the chase
i had shorts on and the needles on the shoreline was more then i could bare three times i had to stop
collecting to rub my legs down with mud to stop the itch.next time i will be in long pants.
i allso found some fish i my self have never seen in this area of the river, i will go back next week with help and a seine to get photos.
all in all it was a good day.but i should have worn pants!
