definately looks like a fallfish, perhaps one of the most common minnows i runa ccross while fishing. (I wonder if the common nature of fallfish is a new england thing as the time i sampled in new york I haven't seen any).

A couple weeks ago i took some small hooks and tried "minnow fishing" hoping for some commons, all i got were fallfish so I thre them back. (I'd love to keep one, but not with my current fish).

The odd thing about fallfish that i have seen is most places you find them in that size range like the one you caught, but every once and a while you will stumble accross a location that is home to GIGANTIC fallfish 12-16 inches long.
