Hi, im new here and have come across this forum and love it, has been helpful in many ways. I've got some i could use a little help with if you can. thanks for your help.

the 2 sunfish pics are green sunfish

As a handwaving guess from the interesting angle, the minnow(s) in the first photo might be a Pimephales species, maybe notatus? It looks like there's a well-defined basicaudal dot.

And of course those were green sunfish.

I think your darter is a tessellated darter. The Johnny darter and Tessellated darter look very similar, but the Johnny's range is only in the western extreme of PA, so it must be the Tesselated. I'm going with fundulus' suggestion with the Bluntnose Minnow (Pimephales Notatus). Hope this helps! :)

Wow, that's so cool! I have to admit I'm a little jealous :) . Have they began building their nests yet?

nest was done yesterday and they actually dropped and fertilized the eggs today, when i can get pics i will post

these guys adjusted so well, they are eating flakes and pellets already. when i go into the fish room they come up and beg

Can't wait to see the pics. :) About the darters, I've been wondering the exact same thing, not sure if there is a surefire way to tell.

Adult male darters usually are at least a little more vividly colored, with more color in various fins as well as on the body.

I cant even pretend to guess. they are all over in there. there are a lot. They are down in the rocks, on the glass, in the plants, on the heater, a bad guess would be 100 to 150.
