Went out for a quick trip to a local stream the other day, I was short on time so I fished a familiar pool. I hadn't really thought about it before, but the brookies in this stream have some interesting coloration. Instead of a deep green their backs are more gray, almost blue, with bright yellow spots.

Not the best picture since it's pretty dark under the hemlocks and a little water got splashed on the lens...

As an aside, I was using my Tenkara rod (Japanese style of fly fishing), if any of you are interested in fly fishing, or ultralight fishing go take a look at www.tenkarausa.com

To be honest I haven't gotten up there yet, although the Quinapoxet R. looks inviting! I have fished some of the Nashua R. tributaries farther upstream though. That fish was actually from a stream in Hampshire county, so maybe I shouldn't have said "local."
