Mid-West Indiana 2009 Longear catch

Wanted to post a shot of a nice longear i added to my collection this early Summer. Taken from a small creek, under a bridge, shallow water. Took 2 actually :)

That fish has very nice color.is it a central or northern?
your fish has more of a pointed face then the ones from around here and some of our longears
have black fins is see yours has a cream color to then.
did you get him via hook and line?

Northern Id say Tony, Yes i use a barbless hook with nightcrawler, These two were really kinda small IMHO, only about 4 inches id say, but the color was so good i couldnt pass them up, i also cach greens there but never keep them even though they also have beautiful colors out of that creek, Tooo mean for my tanks lol. This is in mid west indiana about 2 hours west of Indianapolis

FWIW I'd say that's a central longear. The opercular flap is waaaaay too big for a northern. You're out of range once you get downstream of the lakes on the Tippecanoe, which makes an awfully abrupt change from one form to the other.

Id say, you're probably correct Todd, You are obviously much more knowledgeable about such things, Than I, So Tony, it must be a central. Thanks for your input Todd :) . What i know for sure is, It's a beauty LOL
