what would be some good fish to go with a platy tank guys? and does anyone have fish that they dont want

I think the question would be, "what constitutes a good community fish for platies". Really, just about any ole shiner or darter will do OK with them.

Your everyday tetras, gouramis, and barbs do well also.

Any of your southern killies will work. Florida flagfish. Darters would work if you want some bottom-of-the-tank fish.

Actually platies are North American Natives...They are from Mexico.

Depends on species, but usually brownish gray with highlights.

Coloration can depend on the locality of the fish as well a species. I have seen a few Mexican platy Xiphophorus maculatus that where very nice looking in their own right and then others that where quite unimpressive. X. variatus tends to have a bit more vibrant color but again every population seems to be different.

The "pretty" ones you see in stores are actually hybrid swordtail, Platy and variatus.
I really do not think there is a "pure" hobby strain that is not a hybrid of some sort
