I found a fish today that is not suposed to be in the river iwas collecting.
the river is the cedar in minnesota the fish central mud minnow took him home hope to find more awsome fish. also found lots of long perch and shiners and horny head chubs.
Any way thought i would share my excitement.

that is a very nice find :cool2: that could be a bad thing (could be introduced) but I say thats nice. I hope to make a similar discovery with rainbow darters and the local rivers/streams next year :fishy:

I dont think its itroduced as they occure in Minnesota. I think what most likely happened is incomplet data on the rang of the fish.

i meant as in introduction to that watershed (like with here the invasion of yellow perch in lakes that were homes to almost strictly brook trout and whatever they foraged on)

I get what you are saying I studeid further into the distribution of the fish on natureserver, and the fish is in the system just in Iowa so I think it is plosable
that the fish occars on this side of the border as well just not documented.

That's pretty neat phatfish. If you keep exploring the area, try and record the location and take a photograph. I would imagine the state would like to have the location and a photos to help update their records.
