Its the time of the year when Lake Pontchartrain is very salty due to tidal movement. So all the speckled trout and drum come to gather and chase the shrimp into the lake. So today we decided to go out and try some fishing.
The wind was blowing like crazy. The weather man said it was 5-10mph but he was wrong again. We decided to try anyway. The waves were higher than I have ever seen them here before. There were 4-5 foot swells. My friend got sea sick and started throwing up. The trout did not bite so we moved to a new spot to catch black drum and redfish.
Heres what we caught.

our limit on black drum(15)
two 5.5lb redfish
2 stingrays
2 hardhead catfish
1 flathead catfish (My dad never seen them here before throughout his 35 years of fishing here.

We had a nice fish fry today!
Anyways I tried the dipnet at the dock for about 10 minutes.

I caught

3 hogchokers
2 naked gobys
bunch of silversides
gulf killifish
some kind of banded killifish
I think there were a few sailfin mollys in there.

Overall great trip. first time catching hogchokers. And I caught a nice redfish!

Nice trip. And now you know how the British troops felt as they were shipped across Pontchartrain on their way to the Battle of New Orleans.
