This topminnow was caught in Little Alabama Bayou near Krotz Springs, LA. Can anyone positively identify this fish? I think I have it narrowed down to blackspotted or blackstripe topminnow, Fundulus notatus or Fundulus olivaceus.

That looks freekishly like fundulus euryzonus. The tangipahoa and Amite rivers are the only known places to find them though. So I would say its a blackspotted topminnow.

By size alone I would bet on F. olivaceus. If you could put that thing in a darker container, it would color up a bit and allow us to get a better ID.

I would say Blackspotted, too, but an underwater picture of a less-stressed fish would help us give a better ID. Nice catch, though!

I would agree with others that these are F. olivaceus.
