I think this is a mottled sculpin, Cottus bairdi, but I have no experience with this family and am hoping someone more knowledgeable can give an opinion.
This was caught in the Lester River, below the barrier falls in the Lester River in Duluth, MN. I was actually angling for longnose suckers when I caught this one.

I would say that it's probably a Mottled Sculpin. The range of the species is correct for that location, and it appears that the 2 dorsal fins are joined. A Slimy Sculpin is the other possiblility, but its dorsal fins are separate. Nice catch!
