Was doing some late night native fish keeping google research. Was reading an article I will probably never find again then Firefox crashed.

It was saying, while most native fish come from cool running waters they would rather be in water closer to the 70-75F range. I know this is not all inclusive but a generalized statement. In anyone's experience observing creek/river fish like darters, shiners, minnows, etc. does this wisdom reign true?

Most species will spawn at those higher temperatures which are of course seasonal. The two big variables are oxygen content of the water, which is higher at lower temperatures, and what invertebrates are available as food sources which is also temperature and oxygen dependent for various community structures. In a natural setting, cooler is better than warmer if there's any doubt, certainly for the more highland species.
