Besides the extra red, the way its more marbled than barred with checker like markings which are normal for warmouth. This could be a sport.
I had some Fundlopanchax garnderi misaje years back. These are normally blue fish with red spots, and yellow orange margins on the fins. One of them came out pure blue, with some greenish spots on the fins, and yellowish almost white margins on the fins. The fish seemed to lack any red coloration.
It is normal for male warmouth to have a bright red to red orange spot where the rayed part of the dorsal fin meets the body. I have seen warmouth with more than one of these red spots along that area, and a few down into the body. They did not have near the red this fish has, and had the typical checkering banding pattern on the body.
This fish also seems to have big flushes of red coming of what looked like a distinct red edging to the unpaired fins in the photos of it out of the water.
One thing, are warmouth nesting at all in your area right now? I have seen male warmouth look pretty odd in coloration when they are on nests.
Although Badis badis is called the chameleon fish, the warmouth beats that little south Asian fish in its chameleon like ability to change color and even pattern with moods.

As for the size question, maybe I should have paid more attention to the background and noticed that in was in what appears to be a 5 gal bucket. Just curious as to the size. Please don't be offended at my silly question.

I've seen a lot of color variation in warmouth. Some have a red sheen, some more of a yellow/orangey sheen and others with blue and green. I guess there are many contributing factors that affect color like diet, water conditions and maybe even temp. I still stick with the warmouth ID.

I also see warmouth with a yellow/orange coloration as well as the blue sheen. I certainly don't think these slightly different colorations make them a hybrid. Your fish looks just like my local warmouth.

No problem I am known to be short on tact and quick on wit at times sorry. And what could have affected its color is the type of crawfish down there and their different color than the ones where I live. The only warmouths I have seen is ones I have caught here near Chattanooga Tennessee. And I have never never caught any less than like seven or eight inches. When in Louisiana I can catch young ones all the time. They must be in short supply here or something. Lets just call it what ever we want and make a new species sound good?
