mine now will eat earthworms and shrimp pellets.
this took a some time and i have to let him kinda warm up first.
its almost like watching a cat in attack mode then he strikes
and its fast last week he nailed me finger and drew blood.

thats awesome...not so much the finger thing, but the eating thing...how big is he/she and when did you get it?

Nice, Tony! Mine will eat worms if it's really hungry, but never pellets. It doesn't deign to notice non-living food.

this year and its maybe 4" now i found about 30 or so in a spring fed creek
some were as large as i have ever seen.

mine was like this as well. trick him for a few weeks be tapping the feeder fish on top of the water
he will learn to hand feed then soak some pellets for a few minutes to get moist then trick him.
i was not kidding he did bite me he come out of the tank 3 or more inches and bit my finger

today it ate freeze dryed tubifex worms and red worms
