Yes it was a convention that long ago... only seems I was wrong about the year, it was 2001... look on the NANFA homepage... there is a link on there for the annual convention... and there you will find a listing of all of the conventions "of the modern era"...back to 1996...
And yes, you do want to go if you get the chance... I have been to nine of the last ten... starting in 2000... a really great trip, great fish, great people, great food... I think they are great!

I'm working on a new booklet for the Division of Wildlife here in Ohio that is due out in March of 2011 that will include descriptions of 64 of the more common stream fishes. I'm also updating their web page to include all Ohio fishes with a basic description and photo. Unfortunately I am on a 2 year contract that ends at the end of April and I'm afraid the web page may not quite make to being all inclusive. I currently have 56 species left to go out of 176. The stream booklet is a separate contract and will get finished, it is mostly done already but takes some time to get published. Here is the link to the on-line ID pages...Ohio Division of Wildlife A-Z fish Let me know if you see any errors or if you have a better photo for anything on the page.
thats your work.
thanks you so much for that web page i use it all the time.
Brian i will look for a hi-rez file of a
shovelhead Catfish with out myself or a friend in it.

I haven't looked at the site in awhile, but after going through it this morning, it looks amazing! You've really taken it to a new level. Good job!

Yes for about the last year or so I have taken that site from what it was (really crappie descriptions and very inconsistent info for 75 species), to what it is now (revamped those 75 and added more to get it up to 120 species). Unfortunately they only allow me to work on this about 2 or 3 hours a week and that translates into really slow going. It seems most of the Division of Wildlife folks don't see the value of this page because it covers so many non-sport species that they have no interest in. If you want, tell them how much you like it... I think there is a general info e-mail some where on the division page, who knows maybe if enough people say how much they like it I will have a Job longer than just the end of April. Anyways thanks for the compliments and Tony yes if you have a good Flathead picture of just the fish feel free to send it my way. If you notice there are a few other members photos on there with there name Photo shopped into the bottom corner. Be sure to do so before sending it to me if you want credit for the photo.
