I went with my roommate to the Portage River right outside of Bowling Green, OH to collect some feeders for his fish. It was raining and the water was really muddy, but we found a bridge (Brian, it was the first bridge on the South Branch) that had some slow pools that were out of the rushing current's way. We got in the water and this is what we got...
50+ Bluntnose Minnow
50+ Redfin Shiner
3 Blackstripe Topminnow
5 Rock Bass
3 Northern Longear Sunfish (young of the year)
15 Johnny Darter
1 Northern Pike

That last one was the surprise, underneath this bridge in about a foot of water we netted a 14" Northern Pike. First one I've caught in that part of the river, let alone in January.

Nice job on the pike! thats prety cool. I don't beleive you on the longears though. I haven't seen them in that drainage. I bet they are little greens or orangespots. To me they would be more of a surprise than a pike there. Did you keep any of them for me too look at? If they are in brandon's feeder tank keep a couple away from the killer fish so I can look at them monday.

They've already became feeders. I would have to say that they were small enough for me not to get a positive ID on them. They could have very well been 2006 hatch Bluegill.
