I know very little about water plants.
Found these growing in/out of the water in the creek behind my house.
I thought it might be watercress, so I jammed some in my pocket.
Rather large roots.
I stuck some under a rock to anchor it (on the bottom) and it appears to be growing pretty well.
I also jammed some under a rock near the top of the tank and it's growing out of the water!

Ideas??

We need a critical piece of information: are the leaves opposite or alternate?

Definitely alternate.
Been about three months now and both plants ( above water & under) are still growing.
